MetroSweep Statement on Inclusion Solutions
July 2, 2004 -- A company called Inclusion Solutions which produces a "Big Bell" product and a portable ramp have contacted local businesses to suggest that these products would protect businesses from lawsuits over a lack of access. MetroSweep does not consider the Big Bell and a portable ramp a "dignified means of entry" -- we do not believe Inclusion Solution products are a viable alternative to meeting a business's legal obligations under the federal Americans with Disabilities Act. The Disabilities Act has been in existence since 1990. Many small businesses have complied with its mandates. MetroSweep suggests that small business owners should speak to colleagues who have made their businesses accessible to learn viable solutions.
